Who We Are

Mercury Network is a full-service communications company headquartered and founded in Midland, MI in 1996. Today, the company provides a complete line of communications products and services, including high-speed Internet access, hosting, digital phone services, and computer repair. Mercury Network’s growth can be attributed to the vision of its President, Dave Sovereen, and his commitment to providing quality products and services with exceptional customer care.

Our roots date back to 1992, when Dave had a vision of starting an electronic Bulletin Board Service (BBS) and launched Mercedes On-Line Systems to the residents of sunny South Florida. After moving to Midland, MI and establishing Mercury Network, Dave was called upon to help launch LakeShore OnLine, an Internet Service Provider in Manitowoc, WI. In the summer of 2004, Mercury Network had the opportunity to acquire the customers of LakeShore OnLine, which it did, and has maintained its presence in the two states ever since. In the spring of 2014, MercuryTel was launched within Mercury Network, and provides superior digital phone services and systems to homes and businesses alike.

Meet The Team


  • Dave President

    David founded Mercury Network in March of 1996 with the desire to deliver high-quality Internet services to the mid-Michigan area and currently serves as President and CEO. Under his vision and leadership, Mercury Network has grown from a basement project to a multi-million dollar company serving thousands of customers across Michigan and Wisconsin. David sets company direction and policy, as well as oversees the company's network engineering and operations. Prior to starting Mercury Network, David worked for Hearst Corporation, where he built and launched two Internet service providers, one of which he operated on a daily basis. In his spare time, David enjoys the outdoors, tennis, golf, and traveling.

  • Bob Manitowoc Area Supervisor

    Formerly a field technician for Mercury Network, Bob now supervises our Manitowoc operation. Having a passion for computers and technology, Bob enjoys repairing computers. If you're having a problem with your computer, bring it in so Bob can fix the issues and make your computer work the way it should. Bob enjoys being outdoors with his wife and three children by camping every weekend he can and cooking over the open fire. Bob's hobbies include computers, motorcycles, foosball and local bands.

  • Tim Bald Eagle

    Tim is a field technician in the Midland office. He has been working for Mercury since December 2006. He has a bachelor’s degree in Network Security from Davenport University. Tim installs and repairs service for customers in Michigan. When he is not out doing installs and repairs, he is answering technical support phone calls and repairing computers. Before working at Mercury, Tim worked in telecommunications for Tek Systems. In his spare time Tim and his wife, Tricia, enjoy spending time together. They like camping and Tim enjoys golfing.

  • Jason Codebreaker

    Jason joined Mercury Network in 2013. He is currently attending Davenport University, pursuing a degree in Computer Programming. A lot of what he knows has been self-taught, and he is a firm believer that sometimes breaking things is the best way to learn how to fix them. When not at work, Jason enjoys spending all the time he can with his wife and children. His hobbies included graphic design, software development, electronics, and automotive customization.

  • Nate Tech Support

    Nate joined Mercury Network in its Midland office in August 2014 starting as a Technical Support Representative. Nate is working towards an associate's degree in Computer Information Systems from Davenport University. When not at Mercury, Nate spends time with his wife Angie and two children. He likes to play golf and pool in his spare time.

  • Debbie The Bean Counter

    Debbie is our resident accountant and brings with her a wealth of experience through roles she’s had as trust officer, senior accountant and management for a variety of financial organizations and CPA firms. With a BSBA and a major in accounting, her expertise include individual, corporate, partnership and non-profit income tax returns and audits, compilations and payroll taxes, as well as, consulting and supporting computerized accounting systems. Well rounded and knowledgeable in the accounting field, it seemed a fitting title to deem her The Bean Counter at Mercury Network! When not working, Debbie enjoys spending time with her twins, her son-in-law, and grand-baby, who are the joy of her life. Her extra-curricular activities include, reading, working out, biking, traveling and golf.

  • Joe Tech Support

    Joe joined Mercury Network's Midland office in August 2015. Joe is a Technical Support Representative, and a Digital Phone Service Assistant for Mercury’s MercuryTel division. Joe earned a bachelor’s degree in Media Arts and Animation from the Illinois Institute of Art in Chicago and has always shown a passion for technology and the arts. When he’s not in the Office, he is relaxing with his fiance, Linda, and 2 cats. Joe often spends his free time gaming, writing or drawing.

  • Missy Renaissance Woman

    Missy is the renaissance woman of the Manitowoc office. She does a little bit of everything; from running the office and taking care of customers to climbing towers with the guys! You’ll often find her working on a computer or a radio when she’s in the office and she is the person most of our customers see at 1011 Washington.

    With four children and a grandbaby, Missy stays pretty busy and happy spending time with them. On occasion, she’ll hit the road with her camera, capturing images that strike her fancy. Of course, her kids strike her fancy so it works out well when she’s with them! Other favorites include web design, graphic design and screen printing, and when it comes to alone time, staying home working on one of these hobbies is her idea of a great afternoon!

  • Marco Field Technician

    Marco is a field technician in the Manitowoc and Wisconsin lakeshore area and has been with Mercury Network since November of 2015. Very passionate about his work, he is committed to doing a great job for our customers. It is not uncommon for customers to call Mercury with raving reviews about "the friendly technician, Marco". We certainly don’t mind! A Manitowoc's Lincoln High School alumni with an IT education from Lakeshore Technical College, Marco was born in Mexico, raised in Wisconsin, and is fluent in both English and Spanish. When he is not on the road or working on top a telecommunications tower, Marco enjoys spending his spare time at home with his wife and kids. He also enjoys football, soccer, other sporting events and attending local festivals and concerts.

  • Patrick Account Manager

    Patrick joined the Midland, MI Mercury Network team in September of 2016. He brings exceptional sales and customer service skills to his position as an Account Manager for the Tri-Cities area. Having been in the Hospitality Industry for over 15 years, Patrick really enjoys interacting with people. He understands the importance how to work well under pressure and prioritize customer and business needs quickly and efficiently. When away from work life, Patrick really enjoys the great outdoors! Camping, bon fires, fishing, beaching and boating are all activities he looks forward to come the wonderful season of summer. While in the winter months, a good book and a mug of hot tea can often be found close by.

  • Ralph Sales Manager

    Ralph joined Mercury Network in May 2017 as our new Sales Manager and comes to us all the way from Phoenix, Arizona! He brings with him 20+ years of sales and sales management experience along with a background in relationship selling, Fortune 500 client services and a proven ability to manage and penetrate key accounts. When he’s not in the office, you’re most likely to find him spending time with his wife and grandchildren, looking for the best bargain at auctions or yard sales, or just enjoying all the activities his new home state has to offer!
